How much bead media do I need?

Each of the Advantage filters require a specific amount of beads to run optimally. While no beads are lost during normal circumstances, accidents happen and beads can be lost. To figure out if you are low on beads, use the calculator below. All measurements are done with no water in the tank, and the measurement is the distance from the top of the beads to the top edge of the filter tank opening.

I would like to replace all my beads

Advantage 10 Filter = 120 lbs

Advantage 15 Filter = 180 lbs

I would like to top off my beads

The ideal distance between the top of the beads with no water in the filter to the bottom of the lid opening:

Advantage 10 Filter = 11 inches 

Advantage 15 Filter = 15 inches
